FAQ

Q: What does an exhaust hood do?

A: An exhaust hood, also known as a range hood or ventilation hood, performs several important functions in the kitchen:
Removes Smoke and Odors: It effectively captures and removes smoke, steam, and cooking odors produced while preparing food, helping to keep the kitchen atmosphere pleasant.
Clears Grease: The hood filters out grease and other particles from the air, which helps prevent the buildup of grease on cabinets and surfaces, maintaining a cleaner kitchen.
Ventilation: By either venting air outside or recirculating it through filters, it helps to improve air quality in the kitchen, reducing humidity and creating a more comfortable cooking environment.
Reduces Heat and Steam: The extractor hood helps to minimize heat and steam generated during cooking, making the kitchen more comfortable and safer.
Enhances Safety: By removing excess smoke and fumes, it can help prevent the risk of fire hazards associated with cooking.
Overall, an extractor hood is an essential appliance for maintaining cleanliness, comfort, and safety in the kitchen.

Q: Why does my house always smell after cooking?

A: There are several reasons why your house might smell after cooking:
Cooking Odors: Many foods release strong aromas during cooking, especially those that are fried or roasted. Even benign ingredients like garlic and onions can create lingering smells.
Grease Buildup: If you are frying or cooking with oil, grease can accumulate on surfaces and in your kitchen ventilation, leading to odors that persist long after cooking is done.
Lack of Ventilation: Without proper ventilation, cooking smells can become trapped indoors. Relying solely on closed windows can lead to a buildup of odors.
Closed Spaces: Cooking in a small, enclosed kitchen can exacerbate the smell as there is less space for the odors to dissipate.
Recirculating Air: If you have a kitchen exhaust fan that recirculates air instead of venting it outside, it may not effectively remove cooking odors.
Expired Food or Spices: Sometimes, the source of the smell can be food that has gone bad in the fridge or pantry, or spices that are past their prime.
To minimize cooking odors, consider using an extractor hood or range hood, improving ventilation, and ensuring regular cleaning of surfaces and appliances.
