Adjusting the flame on a gas stove is a skill; mastering it will make cooking much more efficient!
First, observe the flame color: A blue, cone-shaped flame is optimal. A yellow or red flame indicates incomplete combustion; adjust the air damper immediately!
Air damper adjustment techniques:
Locate the two small levers at the bottom of the stove (inner ring/outer ring)
Yellow flame: Open the air damper wider to allow more air in.
Unstable flame: Close the air damper to reduce airflow.
Don't turn the knob all the way to the bottom: At maximum heat, gas may not burn completely. Adjusting it to 3/4 position results in higher thermal efficiency and prevents the bottom of the pot from burning.
Regular maintenance: Clean the burner holes monthly with a toothpick. Clogged nozzles can cause uneven heat. Remember to wipe off the oxide layer from copper burner heads after prolonged use.
